About Polkadot and Asset Hub
Polkadot is a network of many sovereign blockchains, also known as parachains. Parachains operate in parallel of each other to allow for faster transactions while benefiting from Polkadot’s overall security and decentralization.
Polkadot Asset Hub is a common-good parachain designed for issuing, managing, and transferring digital assets across the Polkadot ecosystem.2 USDC is natively issued on Polkadot Asset Hub, which makes it easy to transfer to parachains via XCM.
Polkadot USDC is the official form of USDC for the Polkadot ecosystem, providing developers and users with access to a fully reserved, dollar-backed stablecoin that’s always redeemable 1:1 for US dollars.

1 Please note that Circle Account and Circle APIs only support USDC natively issued on Polkadot Asset Hub in the Polkadot ecosystem. This means you must transfer USDC from your Circle Account to an external Polkadot Asset Hub wallet address prior to using XCM. Additionally, if you transfer USDC from Polkadot Asset Hub to other parachains via XCM, you must transfer back to Polkadot Asset Hub via XCM prior to depositing into your Circle Account. Please do not attempt to deposit XCM-transferred USDC from a parachain other than Polkadot Asset Hub to your Circle Account, as it may not be recoverable and could result in a loss of funds.
