Now Available: Native USDC on Aptos

Native USDC on Aptos is now live! We’re excited to announce that USDC is now natively available on Aptos mainnet and accessible to all developers and users – no bridging required. Circle Mint and its APIs now fully support USDC on Aptos, making it easy for financial institutions to access USDC liquidity and benefit from Aptos’s fast and secure network.

Understanding native vs bridged

Circle brings USDC natively to new blockchains to empower developers to build on a stable foundation they can trust. Native USDC is officially issued by Circle and is redeemable 1:1 for US dollars.²

In the Aptos ecosystem, there’s currently a bridged form of USDC known as lzUSDC circulating, which is USDC bridged from Ethereum through the AptosBridge built on LayerZero. lzUSDC is not issued by Circle and not compatible nor redeemable with Circle Mint.

Bridge providers such as Stargate, built on LayerZero, have played an integral part in the growth of lzUSDC on Aptos, which factored into Circle’s decision to bring native USDC to the Aptos ecosystem. The Aptos team and bridge providers will be working with ecosystem participants to help facilitate the migration from lzUSDC to native USDC over time. 

With Cross-Chain Transfer Protocol (CCTP) on Aptos, interoperability providers like Wormhole will enable developers and users to transfer USDC natively between blockchains.
