Circle’s Web3 Services now support the Solana blockchain. Learn more about how this empowers Solana's developer community.
We're thrilled to announce the expansion of Circle’s Web3 Services to support the Solana blockchain. This is an exciting milestone as we build a comprehensive and robust platform that empowers businesses and developers to build and launch on-chain apps. Starting with Programmable Wallets and Gas Station on Solana, this expansion can empower the Solana developer community to embed secure, intuitive and enterprise-grade wallets seamlessly.
Programmable Wallets offers a set of APIs and SDKs designed to help developers embed secure, multi-chain wallets in apps, even if they’re not familiar with blockchain infrastructure. Programmable Wallets abstracts away technical complexities like managing private key security, node infrastructure, transaction fees, onboarding and authentication flows so that developers can focus on building and scaling their applications and business. Programmable Wallets supports Ethereum, Polygon PoS, Avalanche, and now Solana.
The Solana developer community has witnessed remarkable growth, with a thriving ecosystem of businesses and individuals building innovative applications. One of the things that excites us most about the Solana ecosystem is the community’s wide adoption of payment use cases, a trend that closely aligns with Circle's mission to “raise global economic prosperity through the frictionless exchange of value.” With Programmable Wallets, developers can more easily build on-chain apps that reach more people around the world.
Circle’s platform has consistently delivered new products and updates to support the Solana ecosystem, including native USDC and EURC, as well as CCTP integration. Rollout for Solana support around Circle’s Web3 Services will take place in phases:
- In this first phase, we are enabling support for Programmable Wallets and Gas Station on Solana. More specifically, our APIs support fungible token transfers with the ability to sponsor transaction fees on behalf of end users. You can learn more here.
- Future releases will include support for non-fungible tokens (NFTs), as well as program interactions through Smart Contract Platform. These updates can unlock support for additional use cases such as NFT integration for brand loyalty and gaming, as well as the ability to interact and deploy your own programs on Solana.
We're committed to supporting the Solana developer community and providing them with the tools and resources they need to succeed. With this initial launch of Circle's Programmable Wallets supporting the Solana ecosystem, we're excited to empower Solana developers to build innovative applications that are secure, scalable, fast, and cost efficient. Together, we aim to bring the benefits of blockchain to the masses.
