Circle adds to its deep bench of finance talent

Part of building the leading crypto finance company and reimagining the global economic system requires having a deep bench of financial experts, which is why Circle is excited to welcome John Barnett as VP and Global Controller. In this capacity, John will lead our amazing Accounting and Tax teams and will further work to build out our Business Systems and Procurement teams.

John has experience, education, and credentials in spades. He has an MBA from MIT Sloan, a JD from Northwestern, a MSE in CS from Penn, and a BA from Chicago. And oh, by the way, he’s also a CPA for good measure. This has served as his foundation for a great career doing management consulting at BCG, Controllership at Teradyne, Financial Operations and Planning at Fidelity and Cabot. Most recently he was CFO at Ironwood Capital Management and the Rhode Island Foundation.

John joins a host of other recent hires to help Circle build the industry’s best finance team:

  • Patrick Corker, most recently VP of Financial Operations at crypto derivatives platform LedgerX and previously VP of Product Control at Goldman Sachs, joined in May to lead our Treasury and Trade Finance functions.
  • Chuck Kimble, most recently EVP of Partnerships at Dashlane and previously head of Strategic Partnerships at Square, joined Circle in July to lead USDC Partnerships for Circle and Membership for CENTRE.
  • David Kinitsky, most recently the co-Portfolio Manager of an internal crypto investment fund at Fidelity Investments and previously General Manager of Grayscale Investments, will be joining the team as Director of Corporate Development and Strategy.

And I joined in March. It has been a pleasure working at Circle and at a time dominated by forward progress: the integration of Poloniex, the launch of two new product lines, and the recently announced Series E Financing that set a new milestone valuation for the company.

But even with the stellar team we have in place, we can’t do it alone and have many critical roles we’d like to fill in Corporate Development & Strategy, Investor Relations, Treasury, FP&A, Procurement, and Accounting (to name a few)... at great locations including Boston, New York, San Francisco, Dublin, and London. If you are up for the challenge, you can find some of these roles at circle.careers to get started or send me an email at [email protected].

We can’t wait to hear from you!
