Preguntas frecuentes

EURC (pronounced E-U-R-C) is now the official name and symbol for Circle's euro-backed stablecoin. The name “Euro Coin” and symbol “EUROC” were used in the past and are being phased out. You may continue to see the old name and symbol displayed on apps, wallets, and block explorers for a period of time as these apps and services adjust their UIs to reflect the new name and symbol.

Note: The existing token addresses remain the same; we will not be introducing a separate token. In the coming months, we will update the name and symbol on the existing token addresses to EURC, which will make it easier for apps, wallets, and block explorers to implement this naming change.

Businesses can apply for a Circle Mint account to access on/off-ramps for EURC via wire transfer.

EURC is also accessible from digital asset exchanges and apps within the Avalanche, Ethereum, Solana, and Stellar ecosystems.

When the MiCA regulation enters into application for e-money tokens (EMTs) in June 2024, businesses are expected to adhere to MiCA requirements. Circle has applied for the necessary licenses to become an E-Money Institution in France and make EURC a MiCA-compliant EMT ahead of MiCA entering into application.

EURC provides a number of benefits over other euro stablecoins, including:

  • EURC is 100% backed by euro so that it’s always redeemable 1:1 for euro. EURC reserves are bankruptcy remote and monthly attestation reports are conducted by a Big Four accounting firm.
  • EURC is supported by Circle Mint, an institutional 1:1 on/off-ramp service offered directly from Circle at no additional cost.
  • Businesses and developers who choose EURC benefit from the trust, transparency, and security of Circle – widely known as the issuer of USDC.
  • Many of the largest digital asset exchanges and apps support EURC on a variety of blockchain networks, including Bitstamp, Coinbase, Ripio, Uniswap, and Jupiter Exchange.
  • Circle expects to make EURC the most interoperable euro stablecoin with future support for Cross-Chain Transfer Protocol (CCTP), enabling EURC to be moved securely and transacted natively across blockchain networks.

Yes, EURC on a supported blockchain can be quickly and easily swapped to EURC on any other supported blockchain with Circle Mint and its APIs. EURC is supported on Avalanche, Ethereum, Solana, and Stellar.

Circle Mint and its APIs make it easy for wallets, exchanges, custodians and more to rebalance their holdings of EURC across supported chains at no additional cost.

Circle assumes the interest rate risk on EURC reserves.
